VOTD

For I am jealous for you with the jealousy of God Himself. I promised you as a pure bride to one Husband-Christ.  2 Cor. 11:1 NLT

I came across this verse today and it made me pause. “Jealousy of God Himself.”  “one Husband-Christ”. “jealous for you”.

We don’t often realize how burning the flames of God’s love and jealousy are for us.  And they burn very HOT. He is a jealous God.  We talk (as Christians) more about His love that forgives sins, gives us grace for the daily walk, but we don’t talk too often about the extreme measures God will go to for us to love Him.  For us to see how much He loves us, and how much He desires us.

Do you know what a jealous husband looks like?  We know about jealous wives. But jealous husbands… now that’s something. I might have a small idea of it, but to be honest, I don’t know. Because I think it will have to be told from a man’s perspective. A woman cannot think the way a man does and there would be some words he would use that a woman cannot express.  So if you are a husband, and you want to expound on a husband’s jealousy for his wife, please feel free (in a comment).

But going back to the verse, we are talking about the Creator of the universe Who is jealous for our love to Him.  It’s a scary thing and it puts me in awe. I would even say it is a mystery. It will be something only the Holy Spirit can unpack to you.  So do spend time with Him on that.

Till later, knowing Who is jealous for us,

J.
